New31DC: Day 8 - Duochrome, Flakie or Holo

It's Day 8 of the New 31 Day Challenge with Crumpet's Nail Tarts and the challenge is to create a mani using a duochrome, flakie or holo. Well, two of these three are not my favorites - so that left a holo for me. I am just not a lover of duochrome or flakie polishes (although there might be a select few that I do swoon for). For this mani, I started with a base of Milani Mint Candy and then layered a coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple on top. There's a few things about this mani I'd like to share: I originally wanted to layer it over Essence You Belong To Me, but I literally just used that polish in my braid mani - so I switched it. The KC changed the complete overall color of Mint Candy to somewhat of a dusty blue. Mint Candy was terrible to apply, by the way (view a swatch of it HERE via the PolishAholic). I didn't wrap the tips of my nails since I wasn't planning on wearing this long & you can clearly see the shrinkage that Poshe left. I started out loving it, and then the more I looked at it - I disliked it a little more. Whether you want to call this polish a holo or whatever, it DOES have holo in it's name :)
Don't forget to look for my Digit-al Dozen post coming up later today!

Tomorrow's Challenge is Saran Wrap!

  1. Well.. the glitter does give a duochrome-y effect with the word holo in the name, I think you're definitely okay ;)
